From his book, "A New Way to Better Golf" circa 1946.

"The center of the body, the shoulders, arms and hands must arrive at a certain point opposite the ball at the same time and since one member has a greater distance than the other to travel, the various members must move at a speed in proportion to their distance from the hub of the whirling motion."

"The proper set of muscles will bring the club down to form a straight line between the left shoulder and the ball and have the clubface meet the ball at right angles to the intended line of flight."

Alex knew some stuff.

After page 178, there is a beautiful sequence of Bobby Jones. Especially note picture 7...doing the Manzella "business".

Pretty good stuff here to think about!

Robert Jones started his higher education as an engineer, but after retiring from golf, he went to law school and graduated as a lawyer.

His writing on the golfswing is not only beautifully written, it reflects basic engineering thinking that only another engineer would recognize.

What is amazing is that Jones' golf accomplishments were done swinging clubs with hickory shafts that would now be rated as Triple-L Flex ...!!!!
