Am I ever gonna get it?

Ok just a quick recap of where I have been. Had a lesson in October to fix underplane issues, pull hooks, lagging the hosel, axis tilt. Immediate improvement in all areas except the underplane move which took this spring to work out. I had/have a nasty drop move from the top and I guess that opens the face on the way down.

For two months I played a reliable power fade and was hitting it great. I even had the best year at my annual golf trip two weeks ago, especially in fairways and greens. I come home, play twice and hit a total of 5 shanks, and several heel shots. I have been to the range twice to work on it and it is getting worse.

What in the hell happened? How do I go from striping it to having no clue? I thought I was on my way. I am seriously considering starting completely over with Building Blocks, but I am not sure I just want to scrap everything Brian and I worked on last fall. I can’t get to New Orleans right now either. I have even contemplated quitting the game! I do not know what to do.

Don't start over.

Josh.

Whoa Nellie...

Building Blocks is not the answer.

Working toward the soft draw pattern might help short term.

Hope this helps....

I've been to Brian twice for close to 10 hours total. Each time I leave, I am hitting the ball much better and thingss go south. That USED to frustrate me.

The key is DON'T panic, wig-out, quit, etc.... Since the last vist to Brian, I am down 4 on my handicap. I am starting to shoot in the mid to high 80's (mostly high) with a bad round being in the mid 90s (I play Blue tees mostly).. I"ve only been playing 3 years come this July. I feel like I'll be hitting low 80's by year's end. There were some days that I wondered if I would ever see the 80s, and not too long ago (back in Jan-Feb) I got so lost I was not breaking 100.

The same things that happen to you, happen to me. Just when I think I've got it down....I have a really bad round or two....where it seems like I have no clue what I'm doing.

What I've found is that I've slipped away from something Brian showed me or....sometimes, Brian has to get you to do over do something a bit to get you to another side of the matrix.

Whatever the case, when things get really bad, I just peruse the web site (this one), watch the video I made of my lessons with Brian and then, if needed, I just grab my video camera and head to the range. I can usually spot what I need to fix myself by looking at a quick video. Make sure to video tape yourself when you are lost. You don't need to draw all the lines. Just take a look for a couple quick things you know need attention.

What I'm finding is I usually get it back pretty quickly. What I emphatically recommend....is if you are working with Brian, don't take advice from other sources (except for the academy dudes and some of the other members here). I've tried to explain to several people what I am working on and they look at me like I'm wacked. Stay consistent on the source of info and you'll get through these times pretty quickly,

Goto a range

hit 20 balls for each 20 use one thought from Jim Flick to Manzella you will soon find where you were.

Your brain needs to rid the bad info.

Only say this as I did it I came away tired, blistered but happy I was going in the right direction.

I have thought about hitting balls without my right thumb off the shaft or left handed only to train the clubface.

How do I get the "soft draw" pattern?

For Bill and Torvine: I definitely have not gotten "other" advice and I fully trust the Manzella Academy as my only source for instruction. My problem stems from my inability to get rid of this below plane drop move I have had for years. I can't seem to feel the difference between a normal transition move and this dreaded drop until it is too late.

Nice post Bill!

Adjusting will usually lead to over-adjusting I've learned.........

It's starting to "settle" for me though I think.

Trust (and use) THE MATRIX my friend. NSA side......NHA side.............+ Flipper.

(you go from side to side...not always ALL the way...but using certain elements of each............adjusting and improving..........till you settle)

I have to agree!! That is some great advice Bill. I have had several people try to dazzle me with their golfing knowledge and all it does is throw things out of whack. I always come back to my band of brothers here in Manzella Land to help me get back on track. Hope you get things sorted out JB.

Full Roll Fade

This is about the only way I can hit it solid right now. I am really turning the face off the plane hard right now.
