Another Engineers Opinion

I can't seem to find the link...but I remember seeing a page that was advertising a computer-modelled golfer that displayed what the "perfect swing" looked like.

This swing model was said to have been developed by a bio-kinetics engineer (or whatever) who did a study on the golf swing.

It was also, when compared to swings of many many tour pros, said to match the swing of Tiger Woods more closely than any other golfer.

Has anyone seen this site?
What do you guys think of this? Any truth? (many people say that the "perfect swing" is a myth).

You may be thinking of Model Golf, Swing Like A Pro by Raplh Mann.

http://www.modelgolf.com/

There have been comments both pro and con. The biggest cons as I recall

1. Composite of how many golfers? How does that apply to me? Does this mean I will be a 'Switter'?

2. Camera Angles were wrong when initially obtaining information, so results are faulty.

They offer a free screen saver.

The Book, companion cd and full screen saver is also available.

Have know several people to use the graphics to illustrate points and they do seem to be valid and track with TGM.

The model golf system is flawed from the aspect of composit human models defining optimal positions. The practice of placing the (bio) organic human motion, ahead of (mechanics) geometry and physical laws, is one of the most blatant misuses of information ever assembled for golf swing analysis.

Just a saying....

...like this one:

Model Golf is what happens when a track guy and a so-so teacher get together and try to get rich.

They had the mike for a minute.

....next

Ha...well put.

Ya it seems kind of hokey...the (ahem), "model" has a great swing but I found a few funny things...

i.e. in the John Daly analysis they said "from an overly-inside angle of attack, the only shot you can hit is a draw, the only variable is how much draw."

How about a push? Duh.
