Another 'hips' question....

I have been searching lately for 'my cure' for underplane and I tried something the other day that brought about some good results. I added more 'sit' to my first move down. This immediately created a whole bunch of room to swing left and improved the strike. I think I hit my first on purpose true baby cut with a driver. Contact with all clubs was noticeably better/straighter but the irons were a tad steep for my taste. Maybe that will come with more practice.

Thoughts????

The "sit" move you're feeling probably limited the amount of lateral movement towards the target with your hips and allowed you to cover the ball a little better. To help shallow out those swings, you may need to remember to turn them (the hips) more as well.

The more I work on this the more I think it is a needed upgrade to my swing. Brian mentioned in last weeks Ustream to retrace the left shoulder movement in the DS. I have also read about the need for an underplane swing to have some left shoulder lower and more lateral at startdown and I think the 'sit' helps me accomplish this.

On a separate note, what is 'humping the goat' exactly?

I believe it's pushing your right hip up and outwards towards the ball/ target line, which would block your path and force you to swing to the right assuming your right handed and eventually compensate some how and then... who knows?

For me, a recovering BPS'er, the sit gives me "a place to go to" other than my old pull from the top and go fast - slide past the ball, downstroke black type downswing.

That is exactly the way it feels to me as well. It is interesting though, how it doesn't look that much different on video.

Thanks for your thoughts.
