anti pop-out drill?

To keep myself from taking the club back outside, I've been putting another ball behind the one I'm hitting and trying not to touch it either taking it back or coming through. Sort of like Brian's drill of having another ball inside and on the target line and trying to hit it on the follow through. Question: how far behind the ball I'm hitting should I place the other ball? Thanks.

Best anti-pop out drill there is:

Set up and choke WAY down the club, like halfway down the steel. Tuck the grip end next to your right hip. Make a backswing.

Does that work? :D

And yes, Brian showed me that one.

It is a good drill, but will only prevent the "hands-out, club-in" type of popout. You can still do a NHA-style takeaway with the hands and clubhead both going out.

Also, since the hands are in a different position (unless you set up with the butt of the club pointing at the right hip), it may be difficult for some people to transition from the drill to an actual swing.

These are just a couple of things to watch out for. It is still a very good drill and one to try.
