Sup guys.

Was hitting some balls with the driver today on the range trying to find some extra distance.

Came across this and was curious if anyone knew why it was adding yards.
At setup i was gripping the club kinda loose with light grip pressure.

Then right at or a little before impact i would tighten my grip and pressure to a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10.

It instantly added 30 to 40 yards to my drives . I usually hit my driver 220 im 5'9 140 pounds.
I'm also pretty skinny and have small wrist and forearms so could this be a possible reason the added pressure added yards ?

Also was weird that i couldn't get this to work with my irons. Anyways love learning from and hearing your guys responses :)

Yes it did. My normal drive is really high and the ball flight was a little lower this way.

Any clue why nothing changed with the irons?

i wonder if somehow you were able to, with this stronger "grip" effort, square the club face with hand/wrist/forearm with a stronger force, leading to increased club speed.

and i also wonder if iron shots will be more difficult to control with this added motion/swing thought...

i would think on the scale of precision, hitting an iron is much more demanding than a driver. in other words, a higher swing speed with not as good contact may not translate into more distance.

nonetheless, if this is a consistent trend with your driver, that is simply awesome!

Hmm you may be on to something here Golfdad!

My usual drive is 220 and super high fade/slice.

Ill give an update tomorrow if no rain here in Texas ;)
