Mizuno is #1

I have owned five sets of Mizuno irons and they all have worn out quicker than any other forged iron I have owned, Taylor Made rac MB, Titleist 690 MB.
The MP 32 irons I have now have a very soft feel which is why I prefer them to the others although they do wear out quicker.

Are you Dads Taylormades forged?

The soft metal used in forging tends to ding a lot easier.

I've the Mp 57s and they do look a bit beat up, but they still work great.

You do get the most amazing feel from Mizunos tho, but that its the price you pay

I said I would never do it, but I relented when I bought my Mizunos and went with iron covers. They are three years old and look just about the same as the day I bought them.

How would I describe it? Wolverine was attacking me with his claws and I was fighting him with my irons.

like that. Doesn't bother me though. It's not a beauty contest. As long as they do there job they can look like Sandra Bernhardt.

Yep, me to. Play with MP30's. I think covers are a must. It bugs me that people think it's dumb. You lay down 6-700 bucks on irons I'm gonna try to keep them in good shape. No difference than buying a new car and keeping it clean. I love my clubs, why would I to NOT protect them?????

don't know about today, but covers use to lead to rust because they kept the moisture around the club.

My MP 32s are three years old and they're like withered old men: wrinkled, worn, soft, and wise. Best sticks I've ever owned and I won't stop playing them until the 3 iron is completely bald.

This is why I want PINGs.

And because I like them.

I haven't tried Mizunos or Miuras or Endos or any of the more popular forgings but I have hit a variety of forged clubs and as of now I think the cast vs. forged thing is overblown.

I could be wrong.

And I don't like a real "soft" feeling iron anyway. I like a more "powerful" feeling strike. (different than "harsh" though I would say)

I want a durable iron too. No muss no fuss, baby.

I'm a bit old school. Still playing 1990 (legal groove) PING Eye 2 beryllium-coppers (1-SW). Best clubs money can't buy anymore. Believe Lumpy still plays the stainless Eye 2's, and Calc uses the beryllium wedges.

I always felt like they were a much softer feel than other cast clubs, especially when the balls started getting harder.

Still have a set of 1966 MacGregor MTs (black face) with original shafts. The heads are still in great shape, not sure why some of the newer forged clubs don't hold up so well. Had a set of '77 Staffs (didn't everybody?) where some of the chrome actually peeled off. Great sticks though--carried that PW with other sets.

2 year anniversary...

on my MX 23s. They aren't a players blade (just bought a set of Hogan Apex blades to practice with) but they aren't shovels either.

After practicing all week with blades (and moderate success), the MX 23s are so easy and accurate.

And to birdie man.....big grin....If I smacked you up side the head with a ping and a "soft" mizuno....I don't think you'd call either "soft". The soft mizunos strike the ball very hard.

feel in iron is 90% sound based; the iron engineers have figured this out long ago and they are trying to get the cast irons to sound more like a forged iron thus the gofler using a cast iron will "feel" more like a forged iron.

I will admit though they haven't figured it out yet; i still prefer the "feel" of a forging.
