The best one is the one called "Swing Speed Radar," they are not terribly expenseive. The beltronics is not as accurate and even some launch monitors don't measure swing speed they calculate it.
zelocity purecontact is good and affordable, but you have to hit a ball. it shows ballspeed and carry.
I also like the swing speed for what you get for the price but to get an accurate reading I think it is critical that it is set up exactly in the same spot for each shot. Perhaps it's a bit anal but I measure the same distance and angle so I'm comparing apples to apples.

The Swing Speed Radar is the one I use for testing tempo and club head speed. It works great and does not cost an arm and a leg like launch monitors.
Are you talking about the "Medicus" one you put on the club handle?
I highly doubt that one. I picked it up about 2-3 months ago. I happened to put it on my driver again, and when I take 3/4 swings it tells me I'm hitting about 105-107MPH. I highly doubt this number. (It actually gets lower if I take a longer backswing. But I'm thinking that's because of my swing breaking down).
I will say this much for it though, whether it's accurate or not, it has taught me I get a LOT more power from a half to three-quarter swing than a full swing. Anytime I get a little too wild or feel too 'short' off the tee I put this thing on and usually it takes less than 5 swings to realize I'm over swinging... yet again.
Neat device, but I don't think I can swing that hard. So I'm going to say it's inflating the numbers (Yes, I set it up correctly). And if this isn't the device you're talking about I guess you can disregard my comments.![]()
Actually it isn't, swing speed is calculated through a type of algorythm and isn't always as accurate which sometimes results in weird PTRs (Power Transfer Ratio on a Zelocity or what is commonly referred to as smash factor).
One of the fitters i know uses the Zelocity for ball speed and spin information and always uses a swing speed radar as a double check against the Zelocity swing speed numbers
