Backswing below plane; Downswing on plane

What are the likely causes and fixes? If you're on plane on the DS, does it matter?

I have not been making good contact lately, and am looking for the cause.


Working on posting a video, but it's from a local video lesson (Golf galaxy) and isn't working yet.

Part of the premise of the Soft Draw pattern is that you make a backswing that maximizes the ability to make a good downswing - and that the backswing and downswing routes/planes do not match in many good swings. If you have a great downswing, why worry about whether your backswing goes back on the same plane?
