Ballard swing method

Sutton was definitely not short. I saw him play in the early 1980's and he was could hit the ball very far compared to other players on tour. He was only a little behind Purtzer, who was one of the longest then. He also did not work with Ballard as much as everyone liked to say. He worked more with Floyd Horgen, a teacher in Montana. Ballard's other big player was Strange, who was shorter off the tee, very much a control player. Ballard also taught Sandy Lyle prior to his win at the Masters, Lyle was very long and still can hit it far. I think it would be fair to say that for a better player, Ballard's method may not add distance, but will add consistency.

But he is a method teacher, and unless you have the right illness to begin with, his prescription will not work for you.

A beautiful metaphor that concisely describes the difference between Manzella and most of the rest. We need more writing like this.
