I still think it's funny that all those swing the clubhead, de la Torre/Ernest Jones types thinks that great swings just use hands and arms with no leverage or power from the pivot

I only bring this up because of where the Bobby Jones swing came from.

I had the good fortune to meet De La Torre a few years back and speak to him for quite a while and his swing theory is completely pivot based as well as I think Jones. Manuel takes the same "swing the clubhead" idea that jones does in that your pivot will create a completely free swinging motion of the arms without any manipulation of the hands.
Try swinging a weight on a string the way Ernest describes it.

If your looking for a swinging protocol than yes copy that. This is what most of Brians teaching is a swinging pattern.De La Torre is the same way swing swing swing no hit in that pattern good for some not all but efective

Totally and completely disagree about the term "Swinging Pattern."

The latest research says that if you just hold on and pull, you will only generate about 60% of your possible power.

Agree also wondering who teaches hold on and pull you need both arms and hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My hands and forearms are very active i tumble at the right place and right time

I know John very well; our facility sponsored him for a few years and I played with a lot. He has a heart bigger than the empire state building and HANDS to match. The freakiest, biggest hands on a body of that size you've ever seen. Cares little about technical, all feel. Biggest ball striking problem was FAT at times. An AMAZING driver of the ball. Played Mystic Rock with him one night and from the BACK of the back tees (one step off the back tee) he made the course look EASY! He really believed on decelerating on short shots. And he like to uncork a few but we won't tell the night stuff.

I love Daly's swing, but as a little guy with not nearly his athletic talent, he irks me.

I just see so much wasted talent, with his length and touch around the greens, he should have been up there with the greats 8-10 majors. What a phenomenal God Given skill set he has..

you should watch the Anti-Summit. Brian has taught me a pattern that has a combination of "swinging" and "hitting", if we are using those terms, since there is active release in every swing. a matter of fact, Brian taught me "dig to china" and "back extension" which I believe incorporates both a very active release with the hands and an aggressive pivot.
IMHO

He wasn't that good.

wow - tough crowd.

guy wins the same number of majors as norman, lyle, olazabal, langer. I wouldn't want to argue that his personal life hasn't looked like a train wreck at times - but in golfing terms you could make the case that he over-achieved.

he's good in my book

So here is an interesting question. I can most certainly turn that far with my pivot... and my wrists dang near go to the same angles. Should I try using John Daly as a swing model? Totally different than my normal flat swing of just lift and turn through...

Need this weather to break so I can get some range time!
