when people stress about golf they can do all the self talk in the world and mentally say the right things but if they are unaware that there nerves has changed their breathing patterns, which will no longer allow oxygen to get to the muscles and they will tense up, they will have a hard time learning how to leave the tension.

The Inner Athlete - Dan Millman

Psycho Cybernetics - Maxwell Maltz

Do you consider them to be books on how we learn a physical motion such as the golf swing?

What I mean is do you think they would stand up to modern learning theory and application.

Psycho Cybernetics - I read yeas ago and have since sold it so I don't have it to hand. One of the early books on the role of the subconcious if I recall correctly.

Millman I had his other books but not sure I read that one.

Yes. And I think "the inner athlete" is out of print but I am sure you can find it on the internet. He uses golf for a bunch of examples.
