Brian and holenone

This is from a couple months ago but even though I have made changes, my impact aligments are still the same. My left wrist is flat, but other than that, I don't see in myself what I see in great ball strikers. My hands aren't very far ahead of the ball (over my right foot), my elbow isn't in front of my right hip, and my hips are very open. I love Brian's pre and post impact in the new video he posted but no matter how hard I work to get to something similar, I can't. What would you all recommend I do to improve? Impact bag work? Thanks.

mgj,

Look at your hands at impact. Your right wrist is flat and your left is cupped, albeit slightly.

Bend your right wrist back and keep it bent throughout the entire downswing and impact - it should not straighten until it has passed your forward foot.

That isn't a bent right wrist....it is nearly flat. Look at the impact position brian is in, in his lag the clubhead instructional article. You'll see a bent right wrist.

I had a problem similar to yours, i didn't have enough axis tilt on the downswing. My hips would barely move anywhere but they'd be open at impact.

You see brian's logo on the top of the screen? Thats what you need to practice, to be in that position. Plus it's easy, you can practice with mirror work and just go slow at the range. You have to learn to drive the right shoulder DOWN to the ball while the left is going UP. The only way to do this is to make sure the hips move laterally before you begin the downswing.

Go look at redgoat's site of tour swings and notice their right hip at address and where it is at impact. The hip is almost past the ball and their is a tilt in through shoulders like the logo on the top.

This isn't a hard concept just one hard to type. Also go buy yourself a tac-tic to really learn a flat left wrist. Best training aid ever

i forgot to add that once i started adding axis tilt to my swing the ball has been flying higher and longer...moreso with driver than irons becuase you need more tilt with the driver than with irons. Because of the tilt and more efficient position i'm in, i've gained almost 15-20 yards on my drives

ALL OF THE ABOVE IS ALL ACCREDITED TO MR. MANZELLA :D[8D]

"That isn't a bent right wrist....it is nearly flat."

If it is "nearly flat" then it is bent. I understand what I need to do and I understand where I need to be. I have understood it for about 10 months now. It is the application that I can't achieve. I can't get my hands to go more forward. I practice in front of mirrors and on camera all the time. I can pose a perfect impact...I can't do it when I am hitting a shot.

Here is a gallery with some pictures post-impact. My left wrist is still flat.
