Spectating.....wishing we would get a better captain next time.

Total defeat.
Sutton? He missed putt after putt, couldn't hit a fairway and couldn't hit a par three green for two days. LOL
The selection process stinks. Where's Daley? Todd Hamilton?.

Too much Politically Correctness in choosing the captain and the captain's picks.

No doubt about that. The PGA is Politically Correct Personified. Daley would have been a star out there. And Hamilton because of the Asian tour has played more match play rounds then the team combined. Both both aren't pga trueblood.
I don't care what happens in the singles. If you can't make a show of it the first two days, you don't derserve it.

Lol Brian!
The Americans were just 'owned'.. outplayed, outperformed, you pick the word. Any captain\strategy woudn't have saved them.

I really can't stand Mickelson. The way he smiles when he walks off the green. It makes me want to hurl every time they show that fake smile of his. That's why the Woods-Mickelson pairing was wrong. Tiger walks to the tee thinking "these guys aren't going to win a hole" and Phil walks to the tee thinking "oh gee whiz what a beautiful day for a round of golf." That's why the Riley-Woods pairing worked so well, they got each other fired up.

I think the selection process for the team needs to be revised, there were too many guys on that team that played great last year. Particularly if you're going to field a president's Cup team in between each Ryder Cup. Either weight the first of the two years less and weight both years majors heavier. Or make the selection process a 1 yr qualifier with 8 automatic spots and 4 captain's picks for both RC and PC. With the current process I believe our best chance is to get VJ and some of the international players to become US citizens.

The real problem is the world rankings points are geared to the USA PGA tour members. The European players are simply better despite the rankings.

Classic Gamesmanship by the Euros and WAY better teamwork and putting.

The US team didn't pick Daly for all the qwrong reasons.

Classic Gamesmanship? What do you mean by that?

I'd agree. The PGA has been considered 'the' tour for so many years, but given all of the quality players around the world it is getting harder to support that view anymore. On any given day, any player from any of the top tours can shine. The European team just played much better this time. None of the U.S. players seemed to be in 'top' form, and most seemed psyched out.

Time for the 'world' tour to take hold and/or for some of the PGA events to limit their exemptions and requirements more to allow greater depth.

All of 'these guys are good', regardless of their 'home' tour.

Toms made a very nice putt on his last, but nobody putted better than Sergio from what I saw.

We dont play "team" events ENOUGH....growing up nor as professionals....so, the karma is just not there for Americans. By the time we get to individual matches, we are burnt toast already.

How many of you play alternate shot with your friends???...or best ball??? Thats the problem, not the rankings, players ability, talent pool, or anything else. We simply get outplayed in the first two days of the Ryder Cup.

I personally think it is because the European tour is more of a situtation where the players are less individuals than the PGA tour. Look at the PGA tour back when Hogan, Snead, Nelson etc where playing. Players ate together, hung out at the hotel bar together, even traveled in caravans of sorts. The European tour resembles that somewhat. Our guys are more individuals on their tour. They do their own thing once they leave the course. It just seems there is less camaraderie with our players. I think way too much is laid at the captain's feet in way of blame. Yeah, he made a couple of gaffes in pairings. But bottom line these 12 guys are professionals and they need to step up and take ownership for their bad play. I never saw more missed putts inside 10 feet as I did over the past three days. I have played four ball and foursomes before. Four ball is as close to playing a singles match as you can get. You play your own ball. Sure, if you have an amateur tournament 4 ball is a different animal because typically you will have a strong long game guy and a strong short game guy, so you have to use some strategy. But again, these guys are professionals. It isnt like you have to say "Okay Phil, you're a short knocker so you just put one out there somewhere in the fairway and I will give one a big long rip once we are safely in the shortgrass."

I'll agree that the euro tour is getting better and better but it is still considered a 3rd class tour behind the PGA and the Nationwide for talent. Even the players themselves admit that who have played two out of the three.

I just believe the Euros know how to play as a team better and their are too many egos on the PGA tour and when you combine them all it is hard to get them to "gel"

I was talking to a member of Oakland Hills today and he said the Europeans all ate at a collection of tables pulled next to each other while the Americans eat at seperate tables with there spouses...its a team thing (mentally)...we still have the best individual golfers.
