This is the single best pattern I have ever made.

It was done at the end of a rare practice session.

It is the cumulation of everything I have learned about the swing in 26 continuous years on the lesson tee and the research table.

Audio to follow.

Brian...is that a SD pattern takeaway? The SD pattern takeaway/backswing alone has improved my ball striking a thousand percent.

Anyways...looks awesome!

Brian, Looks great! Can't wait for the audio. Would love to hear how you put this pattern together and what exactly you feel are the key pieces to it

nice.

double shift. push elbow. rotated shoulder turn? standard hip turn. and a wonderful impact position.

how close is this to the centre?

Whether or not Brian "meant for it to happen" the pole in the background goes right down what we call the "point between the shoulders."

i really dont want to say this ...

but surely between frame 5 and 6, the point between the shoulders has moved?

i know the ball doesnt know. i know that. but i though the point between the shoulders was supposed to stay still throughout the whole motion

Ha! Kick azz!

That is one flat left wrist...

Still flat with the stronger left hand grip eh Brian?

Is this ala "Ernest Jones" or you consciously adding FATS? (pull vs. drop n hit it)

Ballflight?

What's your downswing thought(s) Brian?

Eager for audio BMAN.

Brian, are those stills from the video camera you suggested a long time ago? If not, what is it? The Mrs. and I are looking for a new camera since we still use film (gasp).

Upper vs. lower body lead

Often it is mentioned that it is the lower body initiating the down swing. Perhaps it is often tipsy topsy and it is actually a slight movement of the upper body towards the target which constitutes the transition move between back swing and down swing.

In Brian’s sequence from the 5th to the 6th image there is indeed a slight upper body motion towards the target. It is a nice to use this subtle motion as it leads to a smooth gravity counter fall onto the lead leg initiating the down swing.

I wonder if Brian would lift his arms as much between frames 5 and 6 if he was more flexible. What iron are you using there and how far did you hit it? Did it fade or draw? Good to hear you've found something that works for you.

No, I would not.

What iron are you using there and how far did you hit it?

5-iron.

It went really far for me. About 195-200, where my normal 5-iron is about 175-185.

Did it fade or draw?

One or two yard draw.

I wasn't trying to do anything but hit it hard with this pattern.

Good to hear you've found something that works for you.

This was literally the first time I ever did this pattern. I have NEVER played with it.

But, I will.
