How about some pictures of the Hogan pattern circa 1950's
Brian, my question had to do with lateral head/upper body movement on the DOWNSWING. I am comfortable with some move off the ball on the backswing, but I am trying to limit my head/upper body lateral move toward the target particulalry very early in the downswing. Any ideas on how to accomplish that or get an appropriate "feel" would be appreciated. Thanks again.
Great, thanks for the response, Brian!
First time I ever noticed Hogan not wearing a glove. (never have noticed otherwise for that matter) They have em back then?
Look, here is the straight dope.
You do not hit the ball with your head. Stop worrying about it.
If your "jump" is correct, even a poor "run up" will be OK.
Just remember, moving the head forward on the downswing is NOT a flaw done correctly!
That makes sense. I am hitting the ball pretty well, so I should worry about something else. I guess I just see my swing on video and say "that doesn't look like [insert name of tour pro]." But I get what you're saying, so thanks for taking the time!
If this is right it is very good news for me because I like to shift latrally a little and I am always worried about axis tilt. What I like about the head shifting laterally a little to the right is that it naturally creates some axis tilt.
