Hmmm.......I'm not so sure about B-Man's supply / demand analysis here.

Given that the demand for an analysis of Tiger is 20 times greater than the demand for an analysis of Schwartzel, why supply a Schwartzel analysis? :)

Doesnt a masters win count for anything? :) Maybe we can have both.

YouTube - Charl Schwartzel

His swing has a lot of similarities to Louis Oosthuizen's swing. They share a common homeland, a friendship, and used to share the same coach, Pete Cowen.

Whats up with that right foot lift up on the downswing, almost looks rehearsed rather then a product of the downswing.

I think that Schwartzel must have either a ridiculous mental game or a solid swing to birdie the last 4 holes to win the Masters. That is no small feat - props.

I think at The Masters his swing differed in two ways from the video Lia has posted.

1. His right foot stayed down more.

2. His left wrist was flat at the top of the backswing, not cupped under.

L wrist not flat there Brendan...!

Interesting on the foot though. Finishes short of vertical in some of the Masters swings I see. Even w driver.

OK - I will say it is a little flatter.......compared to the other swing. I have two hi-res pictures (Master 2011 / Open Championship 2010) which show that at The Masters his wrist is flatter, his swing is flatter and his club is pointing to the left (laid off) at the top versus straight down the target line. Can't figure out how to post them though?

Edit - think it is pretty clear - Schwartzel 2010 St Andrews (top) and 2011 (bottom). Of course the reason for the entire difference could simply be that he is bent over a few more inches.....

A couple things...

The camera angle is facing the center of the 18th hole (edited) (across his body) while his target is probably closer to the left side of those bunkers due to the fact that the hole calls for a cut. His club is nearly straight down his intended target line.

Sounds feasible. Without prejudice - full versions of those pictures: (edit - fairly certain that The Masters pic is a little 'later' and this may also account for some differences - i.e. check out his hips/belt buckle).

You may not believe me but i will tell you that you aren't seeing what you are seeing because of camera angle and/or parallax. You take the same swing and setup 3 cameras with 3 different angles on the golfer and you'll see 1 flat swing, 1 perfect swing, and 1 upright swing.

Thanks Jim (and ekennedy) - rookie errors by me.

I will follow Brian's example: I was WRONG about Schwartzel being flatter/left wrist less cup at The Masters.

His right foot was more down all week long though......

BTW - Charl was spotted hitting a big push right with driver off a tee somewhere in Malaysia early this morning (he shot 73 to Rory McIlroy's 69, which included a missed tiddler of course).

Also - they are some nice pics!
