Anyone see the impact position of Charles Howell on Golf Magazine. Wonderful firm left side, and the bow in his left wrist is awesome. He goes into detail in the article, and I would say, thats a position we all could benefit from. Some good tips too.

He's a lead pupil, but his problem has been short game. He seems to be better right now, thus he is making more money.

He worked with Ben Doyle once this winter.

Now thats interesting. If you look on the cover of the magazine, he sure looks as if he has the "lag" and "flat left wrist" mastered.

I went to the golf-on-line website to check out some photos of Howell....damn! In the content section ,it has a picture of him halway down in the thru swing,I always wondered how he and I could be the same size and why the distance difference, I now know ! Sergio has nothing on this guy! One question I do have Brian, is this the karate chop type movement from the top that you speak of, and if so, does he roll the wrist, the forearm,or the whole arm to square the clubhead?

Thanks, but damn Fultom Allem scared the sheet out of me when that pooped up. :)

How is that guy still on tour. He is as bad as Duval.

He had (or still has) a 10-year exemption from winning something back in the early '90s. I think they did away with that long of exemptions, which is a very good thing. Elkington is exempt thru 2007 from the 1997 Players Championship! Now, he can still play and he shot a good round today at the Nissan, but 10 years is just too long for a single win. Keeps people like Allem out there way past their legitimate playing days.

If anyone has read that article one thing i found REALLY INTERESTING is Charles position on the downswing where his hands are near hip high; the club is about in line with right forearm and is a really shallow position.

Is that where he should be? When i'm practicing my swing the shaft is much higher than that forearm

Yes, that is the ideal position when your hands are hip high. Most powerful. All the great ballstrikers are in that position...Hogan, Price, Faldo.

If you draw a line from the butt of his shaft to the ground, you will find that it will be outside of where his ball is.

Slicers on the other hand, have their lines inside of their ball.

So is the elbow plane ideal?

Now that you mention it it does have the similar look to hogan and garcia. Don't have a down the line view of Mike so i wouldn't know.

Is this something someone should try and learn or just stick with what you've got?

Hmm...so you're saying when i practice with my plane lasers and trace a straight plane line you want the butt of the club (laser) to point OUTSIDE the plane line?
