Chipping help required

Hi all,

Have been out of action for ages, now back playing. My chipping issues have resurfaced (thins and fats but no nice ones)

Brian gave me a nice walk into drill but still struggling on course.

Basic way of explaining (no video for a few days) is that if i close my eyes and swing to the ball slowly when I stop at a point where club if opposite my right foot the face is open but the club is about 12 inches inside the path almost near my right toe. Stance here would be square, about a foot wide and centre of stance with hands slightly ahead.

I know this is tough to visualise but I guess I am thining and fatting as there is no way to get to the ball from here. If I do the towel plane board drill I would be WAY WAY inside the towel if I do it with my eyes shut.

Any reason for this? All this talk of thumb off drills of me to have a go with that and it seemed to make a bit of a difference. What am I doing wrong here?

Cheers all

seems you're not getting the club up the plane enough. sounds your keeping the club too close to the ground on the takeaway.

try lifting the club till its level to the ground. then magine your a car on a hill and you put the parking brake on. hold your position here. then take of the parking brake and let your arms and club and body fall and drop. you'll see hos the club naturally fall and bottom out forward of the ball. this will take away the tendency to use the hands. and as the club is falling from a height, there wont be much skulling or topping or fats

hopefully

Weird thing is it's coming down that's the problem. I will have a go with that mate, thank you. I'm almost certain i'm going severely under the plane coming down/through.

Hope to post video, hope Brian also sees message...

Could this be anything to do with the following.....

I found the Tush Line drill on the site today......seems I half stumbled on this last year.

When I tried this chiping my left hip/cheek  rotates left and goes backwards about 3 inches (to the right). Why would I do this?????

I would appreciate any help and how should the hips move during chipping with the Tush Line drill?

12 inches..3 inches..you sound too mechanical; this is a chip shot - why don't you try just brushing the grass and turning your chest to face the spot you want to land the shot
