My general rule is not to use the leading edge unless I have to. Professionals can chip with anything but they tend to favor gw,sw and lw. I am guessing that is due to the versatility that increased bounce provides. Most people overdo the hands ahead deal. On most shots I have the back of my left ahead the sweetspot (sweetspot futher "back" on wedges as you know) the shaft is almost vertical to the ground. Hands ahead, uber-leany shafts produce gopher-killers. I seldom try to apply cutspin, preferring the ball to run-out straight, instead of kicking to the right. Key to my chipping (entire short game) is by how much and when I let the right wrist "go." If you can get the leading edge below the belt-line of the ball's belly you will not hit it then, so I can hit well controlled shot off a cart path if needs be. Having said all of that one of my favorite shots to hit is a low scooting hood-faced runner with a pw.
I aso recommend prune juice for softconsult!
