duckslice, I agree with you on the max equivalents. I know what they are trying to do, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If I can only score so high on a hole, I should also be able to only score so low as well.

It's actually pretty funny when guys who can post no more than a double bogey are throwing up 8's and 9's, and I was one of them.

Doesn't make me mad though, gives me a great appreciation of high level golfers. You realize just how tough this game is and how hard it is to post low scores in tournament situations.

Richie, it's not that tough of a course, you'll probably chew it up, I went out a couple of days after the tournament and shot a 78, of course I couldn't take any more than a 6:)

Could somebody explain "equitable stroke allocation" to me, please?

Easy, it's saying when you post a score for your handicap, you can only take so many strokes on an individual hole. I *believe* if you're anything less than a 10 handicap, the highest score you can take on a hole is a double bogey.

So, let's say you're a 5 handicap and you actually shoot an 81 with two triple bogeys. Then when it comes to posting your score for the handicap, you post a 79 because the highest you can score on a hole is a double bogey.

If you're say a 15 handicap, I think the highest score you can take on a hole is a triple bogey.

Thanks Richie, we sort of have that system for when a player's handicap is assessed initially - after that the handicap is adjusted based on performance in club competitions as compared to standard scratch.

Nonetheless, an 81 is an 81. A player must know his real score so to be annoyed when the real score counts is a bit pointless.

Okay, here's my results:

75-76-75

I finished 2nd.

1st place was a kid who just graduated (73-78-70) and is turning pro next month, 3rd place was a former pro, 4th place is a Korean guy who owns and runs his own golf academy down by TPC Sugarloaf, but I guess he's not a pro.

Driving Accuracy - 29/40. Only had 1 penalty shot with the driver all week. Took a nap for about 5 holes today and it cost me and then I adjusted and started striping it. Much more focused on gaining distance with my driver. I seem to carry it as long or longer than the guys, but it appears I have way too high of a spin rate.

Greens in Reg- 36/54. I was a bit shaky the first two days with the irons, struck them well today. We played 2 different courses. The Friday courses required TWO par 3's where almost everybody was hitting driver. On Sunday most were hitting 3-wood on one of them and then driver on the second par-3. And the 16th hole is extremely ridiculous (somehow I birdied it today). Not bad for an overall so-so to mediocre tournament of ballstriking.

Up/Down Percentage: 5/16.

Putting: 101 putts. 33.7 putts per round.

I don't think I would be confused for Crenshaw any time soon, but I didn't feel like I putted that bad, but it was getting ridiculous at how many putts I barely missed. Had four 3-putts for the tournament and those were of long distance. Today, I finished with lip-out birdie, lip-out par (3-putt), drilled a 30 footer for birdie, lip out par (3-putt) and lip-out birdie. If I could get some putts to fall, get an extra 25 yards with my driver and a legit extra club with my irons I think I could be dangerous and give some hot shots some trouble. But overall, not bad for a guy that had quit the game for the past 8 years and hadn't played a real singles tournament in 9 years.

One course is about 6,900 yards (139 slope) the other is about 6,700 yards a pretty tight (139 slope as well).

Were you using your aimcharts?

Unfortunately, I do not have any Aimcharts. The courses we played have a lot of crowns and saddles, big greens with some tiers in them, so the AimCharts don't help too much and that wasn't really the problem anyway. Too tentative the first two days with ballstriking and I had 13 lip-outs/hit the cup. Only missed three putts inside 5-feet.

I haven't played a legit singles tournament in 9 years, so the good part of this for me is it gives me an idea of what I need to work on to improve (putting and chiipping obviously, along with more distance).

A huge difference is the fact that many club championships are medal play events. Most weekend rounds are match play or match play equivalents. Remarkable scoring changes occur when "everything's in the hole."
