clubfitting on trackman

Good feedback guys. It very well may be overkill, but I want to really understand my ball flight and I just don't always trust the monitors at some places.

I'm pretty short 5'6 and have always fought a hook. On the lie board, I always come out as standard, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Maybe I've made a lot of compensations to somehow get standard clubs to work for me.

In fact Richie, I may be going to the same place you went. I also live in Atlanta(Woodmont) and the pricing you mentioned sounds very familiar.

Yep, same place. I tried out the Trackman before with a local pro who bought it, but last I heard he moved to Florida or is in the process of doing so. So the clubfitter we're talking about are the only guys with Trackman in the state of Georgia.

Again, it's a matter of peace of mind to you. Being able to hit outdoors is pretty valuable to me, but if I was on a really tight budget I would have to reconsider.

One thing though, you're best off trying some clubs elsewhere to get an idea of what clubs you're interested in. I didn't actually hit MP 62's there. I hit some Toski fitting clubs basically because they want to figure out what type of shaft, shaft flex, kickpoint, shaft length, lie angle, grip size, etc. that I needed instead of what particular iron works best for you.

You will use a lie board and some impact tape as well.

Interesting, I like the Mizuno MP 60's. I use to play old Hogan Apex edge pros, and then got talked into a set of Ping G2's, big mistake.

I've never struck the ball the way I did with those old Hogans.

Do you have a flatter swing plane?

I was reading one book and it talked about how the older clubs, particularly Hogan's, were great because they were made for the flatter swing plane. I never really thought of equipment in those terms, but a lot of that made sense to me. Still not exactly sure if it's true, but always curious to find out from people who hit old Hogan clubs and went to more GI irons like Ping.

pretty interesting observation Richie.

I have a very flat swing. Not a whole lotta of up going on, and I use to have a lot of pop out with the hands, but I still was able to avoid coming ott and would drop under plan hitting a lot of drop kicks and pushes.

I've fixed a lot of my problems my keeping my right arm above my left on my takeaway and gone to a Manzella neutral grip. I have to play with a very weak right hand to keep the ball from going left.

Very Disappointed.

We are going to Phoenix.

We are being fit by CoolClubs outdoors at TPC Scottsdale.

Our research visit is NOT the clubfitting.

The place where we are going to do the research is in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

I don't want to say the place we are going.

Why?

Because....I have my reasons, and I will reveal those AFTER the trip.

Please do not ask any more questions, or take any more guesses.

I will share our findings when I return.

Thanks,

BManz :(

Trust me when i say that Hot Stix isn't the pinnacle of fitting technology

The guy behind cool clubs is the one who started Hot Stix. I am sure he has come up with something better. The V1-8Cam video analysis sounds interesting but it is 2-D. I am sure they use it because V1 provided it for them to promote their products. Brian will give us the latest scoop on it. One good thing is you can do a lot of research at one place as they are using TrackMan as well. Sounds like a fun trip with much to learn.
