Confusion about Confessions . . .

I don’t think I really understand the “Flip” or specifically, not flipping at impact.
I am confused about the concept of having “educated hands” that Brian talks about in the Confessions video, and have loose wrists and arms so the club will release.

On a full swing, I feel like I need to hold the wrists fairly firm to not flip, yet that creates a host of other issues, including the club not releasing.

What am I missing? Aren’t these concepts (loose wrists, educated hands, club release) polar opposites?

Nope. Educated hands allow themselves to get released and are always passively aiming. Soft-ish wrists are not flipped when they know their roll. Over-control is not control, grasshopper.

For me flipping is turning my 5 iron into a 7 iron which means for my 150yd shot off the groung I used to use my 5 iron, now my 150yds shot off the ground can be a 7,8 iron just depend what the lie is and what shot Im trying to produce. What are or were your distances for your irons?

At the end of the day, you either have a forward leaning hosel, a vertical hosel, or a leaning back hosel.

And you have INTENDED loft and un-INTENDED loft.

Most people flip because they hit it better that way.

You need to take the reward away for flipping.

Learning to "line up the club" with the intended loft is a hands and arms thing—with POSITIONAL help from the pivot.
