Word man.

Ya....I'm not as good as some at these fine details....some of the Impact dynamics etc....

But I dunno man....what I had in my head was that with certain patterns, I used to hook like crazy (off the planet) when trying for an Angled Hinge....maybe the key word is 'trying.'

Not sure now.

I mean......just cause the face is closing some through Impact doesn't mean it's Horizontal tho....does it??? (honestly am not sure now)

Here's the deal:

If you angle hinge you are basically eliminating the finish swivel imo, because it's not needed if you don't let it roll all the way through. So what happens? The left wrist bends prematurely after the follow through, so what ends up happening is you start to let that left wrist bend a little sooner, a little sooner, etc etc and before you know it you're flipping at it.

But do it right, and it's FADDDDDDDDDDES all day long. Talk to Smooth Freddie, Old Duval, Jack N, etc etc

Just wanted to interject here and say: I agree.

...lol.

KK...and I want to get this figured out Jim so thanks for sure.....

But the thing is tho is that when I would hook it....man was I ever trying to not let the left wrist bend.....

And I'm not 100% sure on this....and it could be different for a real driver swing where my feel is not real or w/e.....but what I felt was I could leave that sucker flat up until the Finish and still hook it.

If you assumed that to be true.....how then would you explain the hooks?

I'm a little confused and very drowsy right now (late at night and sick lol) so if this sounds off base or not possible or w/e....

I'll try anyway:

1) Angled hinging in my view is incompatible because it disrupts the "rhythm" of a swinger.

2) You hook off the earth because the opportunity for leakage presents itself in mixing components that do not match up thus the infamous "leakage hook".

3) Having a lot of natural talent helps a whole bunch.

What about Hogan and Miller man?

I mean....Hogan alone.....

(who supposedly had to work as hard as anyone to achieve what he did...)

...

(From: http://golfdigest.com/features/index.ssf?/features/snead_nelsondialogue.html)

Did it surprise you that Hogan became the player we think of today?

Nelson: Basically, yes. It was difficult for Ben to learn to play golf. He turn pro in 1930, and I don't think anybody ever heard of Ben Hogan until 1938 turned pro in '32 and won in '35. I don't think Ben won the Masters until 1951. He was what we call a late bloomer, but he bloomed full bloom when he did. They talk about a secret. He didn't have any secret. He just worked out the way he could play, and he played that way.

Snead: In some ways, yes, and some ways, no. As I said, he went broke so many times and struggled so hard with changing his swing that, in that respect, I'd have to say yes. But Ben had that fire you have to have. He was to determined win. Besides, people talk about Ben working so hard to make up for a lack of talent. That's not true. Ben had plenty of talent. Once he figured out how to stop those surprise hooks, well, it was "Katie bar the door."

I mean Snead said he had talent ya....but it took him that long to figure things out.....I assume he tried other ways to do ball position during that time.
