Cupped Left Wrist- Mechanical Advantage?

Does a cupped left wrist have any kind of mechanical advantage?

I've been using a cupped left wrist with full roll with great results. Doing this procedure my shots have gotten longer, louder, and I can now hit a low penetrating fade.

The swoosh of the golf club is even louder (high pitch.) My finish position has my left wrist extremely arched and rolled over. What gives? Why does this work so well?

I understand that the average slicer would die swinging like this, but I'm a reformed hooker.

A cupped left wrist allows a narrower lag angle, hence the extra distance. OK as long as you are not too active early on in the downswing as it has a tendency to throw the club outwards.
For most people though, as you say it would be a disaster.. Good for hookers, that's why Ben Hogan used it...

I've also started to throw the clubhead with my right arm from the top of my swing, and have find a few extra yards. Golf is absurd!

I love a good lamb shank.

On a more serious note, how do you go from cupped at the top to dead flat at impact?

My left wrist is arched at impact. How do I get from cupped to arched? I ROLL the **** out of my left wrist/ forearm. I actually sit at the computer and practice going from cupped to arched.

I also have an extremely bent right wrist at the top. I've noticed that most ppl that have a cup also have a right wrist that is somewhat flat. I keep mine frozen.

When the wrist moves from an extended or even cupped position into ulna deviation, it is a natural function of the wrist to flatten itself out.
As your hands are pulled into ulna deviation in the impact zone by the weight of the swinging club, the left wrist will have a tendency to flatten in any case, no matter how many exercises you do....:D

You must have a weird grip SM, either that or you must be very close to a flying right elbow....

If somebody has the tendency to hook but hits the ball pretty well, and they have a bent left wrist at the top, should they try to make it flat or not change it?
