Today is the Dariuszlympics. I'm sure he's rooting hard for Furyk and Oosthuizen and against Bubba and Garrigus. Good luck my friend! :)

What ? Rooting hard ? Naah, I just prefer ballstriking quality over whacking always. BTW, who is Garrigus ? I believe it is rather your favourities who need to prove something against accurate and consistent players. And they have a chance on today's courses.

i am rooting for oosthuizen because i think he has the most beautiful swing of anyone playing full time non senior tour today.

Furyk... doesn't he suffer from PIOD (pressure induced oxygen deprivation)? Can't imagine him fairing well at elevation.

Perhaps. Who knows, maybe he is prone to choke because he has to offset his lack of length. I've seen McIllroy who was too young for any syndroms to be near Eisenhower house as well and to lose a won tourney already on front nine.

I like Furyk because he's the only one who could have a shagg caddie with today's equipment. I mean whose shagg caddie does not die from running to and fro.

Both two shots on 18th were hoganesque. Watson proved he can win against a better ballstriker on an easy layout. I must agree Watson is better than I thought.

But Furyk will win.

Cheers

I saw the last few holes. Definitely a fun match to watch! Bubba seemed to have a lot going on in his head with some of those short putts.

Furyk is not my son. He lost because he couldn't putt on courses that are not golf. Imagine what would hapen on the-50-ies courses.

Congratulation to Watson anyhow and maybe I find a good eye on the guy.

Cheers

Dariusz, again, you really need to get out to a Tour event and watch on the range. Nobody's shag boy would have to run much. Nobody's.

Kevin!

Always glad to see you weigh in. Do you think Bubba would have been able to compete with wooden drivers and balata golf balls?

Of course he would have. Everybody who is playing the Tour now is good enough to have been fine if all they knew were blades, woods and balata balls.

Glad you agree with me about Bubba. But I'm not sure that applies to everyone playing the Tour now. Guys who play on the Persimmon Tour insist that it was vastly more difficult to control the balata ball compared to our current urethane ones.

I'm just an observer, though. Very little first-hand experience.

i hear more arguments about the ball going too far rather than going too straight. i guess the reduction in spin goes hand in hand, but that's just the other side of the story. tee boxes have to be stretched and stretched, 260 yard fairway bunker carries are scoffed at, and old great courses run out of room.

Perhaps you're right. However, explain me then why Hogan's colleagues were in awe with the fact that his shag boys did not move much ? I guess it means it was quite exceptional, not a routine for all pros. Thus, I am sceptic that there are only Hogans on today's ranges of pro golf.

Exactly. They should make necessary changes in the golf swing equipment and balls to diminish length and let play on old layouts insterad destroying historic courses.
It is as stupid as if light athletics decidents propose to rebuild stadiums because people started to throw javelin too far.

D, do you think Hogan in his prime would have had the upper hand over Nicklaus and Tiger in their prime?

Using the same equipment, of course.

Maybe, I'm a conspiracy theorists, but does anyone think the ruling on anchored putting was setting up a bigger conversation regarding balls and clubs? We have some significant issues across the world with water, and at some point the length issue has got to be addressed by the tour, or we're going to have 9000 yd courses before long. Baseball has stuck to wooden bats, Hockey still uses wooden sticks, should they start standardizing equipment in golf a little more also...

If the idiom "having the upper hand" means better tee-to-green game -- yes, I do. No contest, especially against someone like Woods. If it means "winning over each other" -- no, since it would depend on the course and conditions.

Agree 100% to your comment and hope you're right.
