what were those greens like???
bentgrass fairways?
colored sand for the DR tee!!! I like that!!!
With all those trees? throw in a little heat and humidty and air movement could be an issue...............sorry the superintendent in me is thinking out loud again....lol

The issue with air movement was that in a lot of places there wasn't any because of the trees. Keeping cool in those spots was next to impossible, with a danger of losing greens.

In certain areas of the U.S. where you have that situation, courses will have large fans permanently installed to keep the air moving around the green.

NO air movement = dead bentgrass. Which is why you see fans at a lot of "wooded" courses. Just image what a Croc-pot does to food, well that is what heat, humidity, and no air movement does to bentgrass.

Also with lots of trees, shade becomes an issue as well.Trees that cast MORNING shade also cause many issues with bentgrass and bermuda alike. EI, staying wet, thinning turf, more pathogen prone, basiclly fouling up most plant processes.

Growing bentgrass in Virginia, Maryland, Memphis TN, St louis, ANYWHERE in the transition zone is an ART FORM mixed with science.lol.......I have, like most supers have experienced both sides, dead and alive.
