OK i am in a spot and could use some help with my decision from some good players.
Ive been playing 6 months and usually shoot high 80's with the help of of Confessions of a flipper.
Some days i shoot high 90's .
Anyways all i have heard from every golf video on youtube and others is not to flip. Some days when my weight transfer and pivot is working smooth i hit the ball pure and love the game.
Most days i get huge over sized divots because im trying not to flip. These divots are huge and make me feel bad for the fairway lol.
Anyways i watched Tom Watson on the golf channel the other night and he said hold the club really light .
So i go play today and im gripping the club super light , almost to the point where i feel like there is nothing in my hands. For the first time ever i could feel the clubhead on the end of the shaft. My whole body felt super loose almost like i was elastic.
Long story short i shoot 80 for the best round of my life!
BUT!
Since everything felt so loose i think i was flipping. Felt like i was swinging from the top of my back swing almost. My wrist felt like they were throwing the club head at the ball from the top.
Also i wasn't tired after the round ! Golf felt effortless for the first time instead of feeling like i was chopping wood all day. So that's my concern ! My goal is to be a scratch golfer.
Do the benefits of flipping and not flipping outweigh each other enough to make one not able to become a scratch golfer? Are there any pros who flip it? Also I'm not even sure i was flipping but the way everything felt so fast and loose i assume i was. Ill get a face on video up tomorrow .
Thanks
