I got this drill from Chuck Evan:

- Tie a towel around the hosel of your club
- Swing the club back slow and to whatever the end of your swing is
- Then just let the change of direction of downswing "happen" without any interference from you

---

Now do the above and you will feel the "weight" of the club A LOT during the downswing. You should feel strong pressure on your right index finger (somewhere) depending on where you place it on the shaft.

If you try to the drill above with any flipping, casting, etc you won't even be able to make a swing because the club is too "head heavy" for you to do it.

Give it a shot and you'll see what i mean

Perhaps a personal preference, but I recommend a weak left hand grip. That way, when you match palms ( to get the hands working together), PP#3 is directly behind the shaft, instead of partially underneath when one uses a traditionally stronger grip.

Because PP#3 is directly behind the shaft at address, at the top, even with the quarter turn feel, I can better feel the 'mass' of the sweetspot directly atop PP3#. WIth PP#3 not directly behind the shaft at address, at the top, I feel the sweetspot has partially or completely slipped from my right forefinger.

I also feel better rhythm and a naturally correct closing clubface with a weak grip.

There is NO DOUBT that a weak-ish grip...like the "Manzella Neutral" is better for some golfers and also for some shots.

Even Pelz is using it for the short game now!

- manzella weak left hand grip
- arched left wrist through impact
- full roll it

Goes straight or fades, never worry about the left side of the course ever again

I think the only fair way to have a teach off is to take someone (someone who has not been overly contaminated by inferior golf instruction and has a good enough game to really recognize an improvement, me for instance) :) and let the parties each have a fair shot at the guinea pig. You need a guinea pig with some game cause anybody can make a drastic improvement to a hack pretty quickly. ;)

Brian, great little drill. I still don't feel pressure in my right index finger, but I do feel alot of pressure on top of my left thumb.
The feeling of ball compression is there and I must say feels pretty good. Thanks for the help.

that's because you're a hitter. They feel #1 more and #3 less. I bet you wear out your thumb pad on your glove?
