If the club is inline with the left arm it only uncocks inline and stays open, requiring too much twisting of the shaft. You need to have the club laying sufficiently "in" so you can have something to force out to the ball.
"Laying it off" is open to interpretation too. It has come to mean pointing left of the target line to many; so direction cant be confused with plane. Under the plane is a way of describing it that is more accurate-to me anyway...one more point: whenever we say "all or "everybody" the answer is no. Because I cant think of anything that EVERY player does. Except hit it good if there on tour. DC
