Does the pivot help you square the face?

In my quest to figure this game out, I have encountered another puzzling development with my swing. My normal pass at the ball is a very smooth arms driven swing, (98-100 mph with driver) with a good transition move, a flw at the top and a slight draw. My fault has always been shots off the heel and being underplane.

Lately, I have been playing like crap, hitting a lot of shots off the heel, so I have developed a “backup swing” I can use on the course to get me through a round. It consists of the same takeaway and backswing, but a more powerful and aggressive hip slide/turn transition move. I immediately start hitting shots more solid off the toe and center to toe. The only drawback with this motion is, it is not as accurate with the scoring clubs.

Can anyone explain why I am squaring the face so much easier using this “almost violent” hip movement in my swing? Am I out to lunch here, or is this how it is supposed to work?

Why?

"I immediately start hitting shots more solid off the toe and center to toe."

Because your LEFT SHOULDER is further from the ball.

"Does the pivot help square the clubface?"

You betcha.

When I try to use my pivot more and get my left shoulder away from ball I almost miss the ball or its sails way right(open clubface I guess). My hands dont or my club head doesnt catch up so now what?

On some swings I feel I need to "catch up" and this has made me worry that I am "saving" these shots with a slight flip.****shrug*****
