Double-cock or twistaway on lob shots...

I suppose this is a dumb question, but over the weekend I began using a "twistaway" backswing and a straightline delivery to the aiming point (left of my left foot) to improve the quality of my ballstriking. Works fine for just about every shot, driver to pitch, but I got a little confused on lob shots. For a lob I have usually cupped the left wrist (double-cocking the wrists), which requires a flip at impact. Is there another way to do it?

Thanks,

Jeff

If you want to use an Angled Hinge...

I find there's a few factors to screw around with.

-how much you open clubface at address
-axis tilt (I'd think this could be preset at address too)
-ball position
-how quick you cock your left wrist on the backswing (I tend to hit flops better with a very late set....closer to Snap Loading I guess)

It can be a fickle shot....especially is it's sitting up too much or on too tight of a lie....keep that in mind. I always get myself frustrated when really I fail to recognize it can be a finicky shot.

....I was thinking about the Vert. Hinge the other day actually....

You do sacrifice your flat left wrist and clubhead lag.....but you don't need the compression really.

That's one issue.

The other would prolly be- will this disrupt anything else? i.e. are you gonna start blading everything or w/e. But you still have your Extensor Action right? So the "circle" stays intact, right?

Just finished watching "Over and Out"; looks like the answer is to use a standard twistaway backswing but add a little throwaway on the downswing.

How has it been workin for you Jeff.

Pretty well, but in a backward sort of way...I basically have avoided lobs and have been pitching with my 64* when I need a higher shot. "Never Slice Again", "Confessions" and "Over and Out" have been very helpful: feeling the lag on the downswing after a standard twistaway backswing has produced reliably good pitches and sand shots. My partner and I won our season-long team event at our club on Thursday and I played very well, thanks in part to those three segments. Thanks for asking and, of course, thanks to Brian.
