Downswing Hip Slide

Hi all, i've got a big hip slide towards the target happening on the downswing resulting in a lot of blocked shots or worse snap hooks if i get overactive with the hands.

I'm trying to feel like keeping weight on my right foot longer on the downswing which works well when i do it. I'm finding it really hard to get the feel however and break bad habits.

Any ideas for some drills to help?

Cheers

You need to slide your hips. You just need to be a good amount open too.

Try to swing your arms down left of your left thigh.

Every slide becomes a turn. But you must make sure your head doesn't move towards the target too or your hips wil stop and you will flip it.

If you watch Brian's video's off of Youtube, in Episode #4 around the 25 minute mark he talks a little about how to practise the correct hip movement into impact. It might be a little sooner than that, but it is really quite good.

I know that you are absolutely, positively correct because I have had this exact move for years. The deceleration that takes place when the hips quit absolutely causes a flip. No way around it. Brian says "keep the bowtie back" and he is correct.
