I think this is sad.
I have seen people who really like the putter, despite the actual history of the person who created it.
The author got so caught up in the sexual orientation and the life story of the developer that he never really got to the "does it work" which I thought was what he set out to do.

True that! Strip the club of any placebo effect and get to the bottom of whether it is more effective. Unfortunately, after signing an intent form to do just that and not focus on the source, they achieved the opposite. Capitalist, for-profit journalism, doing fine work as usual...
