Draw Goes Farther then A Fade?

My 73 year old mom grips it stronger than Azinger and draws it. I'd say she carries it about 45 yards. It has some nice roll though. She carries the 60 degree wedge about 50 yards, which could be a world record for someone with 27 mph club head speed. I know she's carry her driver farther with a fade.

Sorry, off topic, but that is funny.

Sounds like we need to fit her into a 50 degree driver... she'll bomb it:)

I often say when setting up a course for a ladies club tourney, if you can't throw it over a hazard, the carry is too long.

Identical Impacts just flipped over...

Driver 10° outside-in, 2° closed face, 5° downward strike, 9° dynamic loft, centered hit.

Driver 10° inside-out, 2° open face, 5° downward strike, 9° dynamic loft, centered hit.

It took several swings at it, but I pulled this off at the first GTE.

Identical mirror images.

Interesting data, Brian ... and you still persist at hitting down with your driver. What stops you from hitting up or even level ... just asking?

It's just I remember commenting on your swing many years ago, and the downward impact concept.

Zuback hit a fade

I think it's called a "power fade" ... and it provides a higher ball trajectory for more distance.

I use a 10º driver for straight and fades, and carry a 2-wood 12º driver for draws. Works for me, and Mickelson tried it too. A 3-wood is beyond my capabilities.

My longest drive was a 'power fade' and a measured 275 yards ... sweeeet.

we call that a rider, if you don't need to "ride in the cart" to get to the next shot.!

Hmm, Brian recommends hitting up on the ball in his D-plane video. So I don't think he still does that. Maybe he just did it for some reason on that occasion (or he hadn't been "enlightened" yet).

closed vs de-lofted

Absolutely, Babe!

if the face is closed and handle is moved back, would it not still be de-lofted to original aim line but not de-lofted to a point somewhere left of target line? The club cannot be squared by moving handle back just aimed left with more loft, no? Please advise.

There are always different shaft bend characteristics involved too. I would highly doubt that when the face is closed to path it is ALWAYS delofted from original. I think that we have to be very careful when using definite words like always or never. Trend may say that there is less backspin with a draw, but that is all.

Remember that the ball has no idea if you are a lefty or righty, just what the face and path tell it.
