Brian (or others)

What makes the X's so good compare to other rifles (standard, tour flighted, etc..).

I think I remember you telling me that you weren't a fan of rifles shafts when compared to DG.

Well....

They are VERY stable during the swing. It does take some getting used to.

I didn't really like "Rifles" over Dynamics, but the "X's" are the cat hind end.

Nippon Ain"t Bad Either

Another alternative to the Dynamic and Rifles is the Nippon Shaft. The 1050 and 1150 Tour are excellent shafts for good players.

I have been using the Nippon 1150 S Flex "hard stepped once" for about a year now (prior 7 years were flighted rifle 6.0).

Yes!

ALL of the Nippons I have hit felt great.

They know something, that's for sure.

One thing i'd like to mention about Project X shafts is they are pretty much completely opposite in bend points and profiles compared to X100s.

Most people tend to like Rifles or DG's, most players don't tend to excel with either. As always it's a feel thing and while a lot have success with the transition a lot of people don't.

I for one do not like how the Project X or Rifles play in general. That's why i'm a DG guy.

What about Sensicore or PING Cushin. Do these inserts do anything?

My shoulder and neck get sore so I'm wondering if I should give it a shot.

Sounds good to me. You try it ever? Just wondering if it's worth it putting in the extra effort/time/maybe money in seeking out a set with em in there.

The Project X shaft is the finest I've played.

Don't mess with the "flighted" version.

Michael Jacobs loves 'em, and David Toms switched to them aftert a lifetime of playing S400's.

Brian,

I've been playing DGX-1's in the Ping S59 for a couple of years now. A couple of buddies of mine have talked about the Project X's lately but I never paid it much mind. I always hated the Rifle shafts (couldn't stand the feel). Well, I start to notice that everyone on tour seems to be playing the Project X. Seems like you can't get a follow thru picture on tv w/out seeing that blue label! (Was that Tigre I saw using them?).

Anyway, I'm playing last Sunday and one of the guys in our group is warming up and he's got the 6.0 PX's (I hear most pro's are using the 6.5). I'm already warmed up but grab his TM 6-i and hit about 5 shots. Let's just say that I'll be ordering a new set of irons with that same shaft this winter. I could not believe how STABLE and SOLID they felt to say nothing about their claims that the ball gets "up" quicker and then flattens out.... that really seems to be the case! Sort of hard to describe, but the feel was VERY different from the DG (and the Rifle's that I remember) and I always thought the DG was the "only" iron shaft going. Not sure if they're for everyone, but I would think that most "players" would notice a positive difference.

Agreed

I gave them ONE LAST CHANCE and they won me over! I am currently using Project X 6.0 in a set of Adams Pro Forged CBs. Love'em.

lol...took a lot of convincing for me. Everytime i hit them i think they were either the wrong flex or just in a clubhead that didn't fit.

Right now i tend to hit a rather high ball with a decent amount of spin because of my pattern, so the project x are nice because they flatten out the trajectory and reduce the spin.

Excellent! And how about the job that Adams is doing??!! Some of the best hybrids out there and a verrrry under-rated set of forged irons in the Pro Forged CB model.

Sounds like a good combo Jim.

They are, they are basically a modified version of the prototype A-Tours and both the A-Tours and the Idea Pro forged CBs are extremely similar to the TM300 which the designer of the pro forged and A-tours had a hand in.

Also, the Idea Pro Hybrid is the #1 hybrid on all tours combined. Basically what they mean is if you took the "tour usage" of all 3 tours they dominate. #1 on the senior tour for sure, pretty sure #1 or #2 on nationwide and somewhere in the top 5 on PGA Tour. I know Jim Furyk plays both a BTY fairway wood and an Idea Pro hybrid.
