Thanks, Jon.

It's still very much a work in progress. Damon and Brian have helped me make some very nice strides forward.

As Brian told me over 2 years ago...I have a very nice imitation golf swing. Basically he wants more snap. I'd like to get the right shoulder moving further down so my right elbow stays folded longer into the downswing.

As much as I like the soft draw pattern I am having issues fully integrating the concepts. Most notably my takeaway and a shoulder turn that is rather flat. Maybe a flat(ter) shoulder plane is OK for the driver, but I feel that it is nice to have steeper shoulders for the irons.

Having said that, when I try to use the SD swing, it feels like I am always going to hit the ball very fat.

I would agree with more snap, but definitely not a necessity. I think you use the ground pretty good, you have a nice "run up and jump" type move. If you didn't do this the ball wouldn't go anywhere.

Nice free flowing swing.

Many thanks for the compliments, glcoach.

When Brian, Kevin, and Damon pick this apart in August, it will be interesting to see their thoughts on the path forward.

I know my lower body action needs an overhaul. The hips, on this particular swing, might sway a bit more to the right than I like. I'd like more rotary action (keep weight on the instep on the right foot). This should also foster a takeaway that jives with the SD pattern which is slightly inside.

I can see why SD would make you feel like you hit it fat. Good action though. Nice work. I'll reserve comment until we all meet in MD

I wish!

No.

When people see this swing, they automatically assume I shoot 10 over (for 18 holes), say. I've received more comments about how aesthestically pleasing my swing looks than I can count, but I am lucky to break 100 on any given weekend. I play regularly with guys who have swings that make me want to vomit, but they kick my ass by 8-10 strokes on any given outing. You have no idea how frustrating that is. It isn't so much that they have 'ugly' swings that enable them to attain lower scores. I get upset that with this swing, I can't seem to shoot in the mid-to-low-80s regularly. Well, maybe it isn't the swing - but lack of technique or mechanics when I am near the green.

Having said this is only my second season in the company golf league and our 'home' course is very tough in my opinion. The fairways aren't very wide and just about every hole has nasty rough/trees/roots/rocks. If you miss the fairway bad enough basically it's a one stroke penalty.

I have, gradually, seen the blow up holes go down. Instead of 9,10 or more strokes - I can usually walk away with a 5 or a 6 (on a par 4 say). As you might have guessed the short game is what's killing me. I do miss a lot of greens, but I can't get up and down to save my life.

I did crack 50 just a few weeks ago, though. The lessons with Damon have reduced the scores quite a bit and our objective is simple. We don't want a pretty golf swing, we want to shoot low scores - period. We've been focusing on getting the ball started in the right direction and working a lot on the club face alignment.
