Faldo's comments on Tiger

What did you guys think about Sir Nick's comments on Tiger, " He fragile", " His excuse about being too relaxed, I don't buy for a second"

Pretty tough feedback. The expectations are so crazy for Tiger it's insane. I'm not a Tiger fan, but for crying out loud, the guy finished 40th, T21, T3, T11, in the majors and won three events.

In addition, he had four other top ten finishes.

I guess the only thing he can do is win every major, or he's underperforming.

Well, he had a shot at the US Open and the PGA and just crapped his pants on the weekend. We're not used to seeing that at all. It's either start strong and finish strong, or just blow up in the first place and not even make the weekend.

I thought he was close this week, just couldn't seem to figure out what to do with the left to right wind. He either pulled it into the wind and it stayed on line, ending up left, or when he tried to ride the wind, it went too far right.

He's playing well, I think people forget how damn tough it is to win a major.

The concerning thing is that he had the 36 hole lead in 2 majors this year and right out of the gate on Saturday $h!t the bed both times. Before 2009 who would have ever believed that would happen?

I don't expect him to win every major, but if he gets in contention through 36 I would expect him to not shoot himself out of it after 5-7 holes on Saturday.

Tiger himself said he came out Saturday and tried to play with a "loose" mindset, then said that was a bad idea and went against his nature.

When a player with 14 majors starts to look for new mindsets for the next round after sleeping on a 36 hole lead, that should tell you all you need to know about his fragility.

Get used to it folks.

I don't know how much I buy into this kind of crap...and he may already be using one - but if anyone ever could use a sports ( and a regular one for that matter ) psychologist, it's Woods.

At least he ditched the new mindset after realizing it did not work for him. He should've done the same thing with his current putter a looooooooong time ago. JMO

His putting and wedges are his main problem now. I think he is playing very well tee to green, but I don't understand the wedges flying 10 yards too far. These will kill you. These are the scoring clubs. He should be averaging 10' feet on these shots, but he's giving himself difficult up and downs from over the green. Does anyone think his new swing has reduced his spinloft on the wedges, giving him unwanted distance on these shots?

A pretty smart guy on here this:

PS, I kind of laugh when people get excited that Tiger brought back the stinger. With no dynamic loft, what else have you got? You just end up with a bag full of stingers.

Tiger Stats and Theory

So much work on the "Swing" - stats show long game is very good and 125 yards in and putting from 10-20' are very poor. Not a Tiger fan but I would look out for next year - assuming confidence settles in on full swing and he devotes some more time to the short game - he'll be back next year - strong!

When the world tells you you're gaga, you tend to start looking for new mind sets.

When he gets his confidence back and tell the world to KMA, he will be back. IF IF IF he can use his new swing effectively for the shorter shots.

I disagree that Tiger is playing well from tee to green. Although he has good stretches where he is in control of the ball, he hits the crookedest shots of anyone out there - usually smothered left.

It is one thing to miss some shots, but it is the distance offline that Tiger hits shots that leaves me unimpressed and doubtful that he can catch Jack. Just look at his PGA Sunday round, for instance.
