Feelings of a former flipper

As someone who is still working away from my shift then flip swing to the more flat left wrist - body pivot downswing can I ask a few questions of people who've gone through this?

My downswing now *feels* as if my chest moves down and around. Indeed my main swing thought is chest to target and keep turning through impact

I feel like im *way* over the top with this swing, or that im gonna pull it 3 fairways left. Of course I dont but thats what it feels like

It looks the like the club and club head are much more in front of me as I turn down - I can feel it loading slightly but it *looks* way over the top. Im not sure if thats because im doing it slow motion and at full speed it will shallow more or beacuse im mistakenly hung up on all those inside/slot pictures i've seen where the club should be coming well from the inside

The results when right speak for themselves but did anyone else have these feelings when they went through this? I sort of know its right and can see by my ball striking its right but that OTT picture is stuck in my head

Yup, I still struggle to rectify this. I think the problem comes because we used to flip and now with the new pivot if you flip too early, instead of holding the lag, you will come way over the top because our pivot is still turning in the new swing, where it would stall in the old flipping swing. It is a scary sensation at first.

Before you became a "former flipper" did you hit a draw? If not, then could you draw the ball if needed?

No it was a hook or pull hook .. and a lot of thins

My guess is that before you got "de-flipped", you were a pretty severe leakage hooker, who had a very closed clubface and swung way out to the right. Now that you have some forward shaft lean at impact you are free to swing more left, and the clubface is now square since you aren't closing it so much with your flip.

The feel for you is that you can come "over the top" (swing more left) and the ball will fly straight (since you aren't closing it with your flip).

Just my guess at it though. Maybe we'll hear from Brian or Jim on it.

Im pretty sure thats exactly it .. but be keen to hear from the other guys too as the 'de-flip' work continues

Just an update - having had a really good range session

Im now sure I must have been a leakage hooker, because when I actively *tried* to swing more OTT and arrive with a square club face I was hitting it sweet. Maybe a gentle drawl

The feel was that I was swinging way left without rotating my shoulders too quickly (more around myself and to the left rather than out to the right with a flip). What I saw was that actually half way down my club shaft was poitnint straight down the target line (not pointing 45 odd degrees right as it had been before and how I believed it should be?). From there I just swung hard left being careful to ensure the shoulders didnt open too quickly

So what feels OTT probably isnt at all. I've also had to open the clubface some going back and weaken my grip to get the clubface square at impact - I think it was massivly shut previously and even though these are probably only small changes they feel like HUGE ones
