Finish Swivel?

Hello everyone

I have a question and am very interested to hear the answer from the manzella guys and from others including Mandrin. I have been fighting a below plane left shot that has me hitting a lot of balls in the heel. I have been trying to hold the face open to avoid the lefts. On the range today I tried using the finish swivel thinking that I would hook the ball off of the planet but to my suprise I hit it straight with either a little draw or sometimes even a little fade. Why would the finish swivel help me get rid of the lefts?

Thanks for your time.

Could it just be that your finish swivel is just stopping a flip with a current in-to-out plane line... ie. your left wrist is arching AS YOU SWIVEL... therefore left wrist can't be bent at impact...also with this motion your pivot HAS TO BE improved( maybe unconscious alteration) for you trace a straight plane line???

Much better impact alignments...

I tinkered with this last year and had similar improvements for a while...then tinkered too much!!

Sounds like you have been rolling your hands thro impact (low left shots). It is an automatic reaction to curtailing your pivot....the body slows, the hands roll over...
As you have found out if you continue your pivot correctly, your hands react differently and don't need to roll through the impact zone, thus leading to the better shots.....it also prevents the fat shots you may have been getting....

Thanks for the replies so far. I forgot to add something to my original post. I have lots of forward lean at impact and no flip. This is one of the reasons that I was confused. Thanks

Kermit,
you could always try and think about keeping your head over your right foot (inside of) on the downswing, might help stop the forward lean...

Another thougth would be to try nad keep your right knee in front of your left elbow until after impact....

No matter how hard you try NOT TO FLIP, if you swing too inside/out you will flip by default and thus close the face much too quickly. The more you swivel correctly and STILL swing inside/out you'll snap hook EVERYTHING.

So just by telling me that you are ABLE to swivel means that you are not swinging too inside/out and thus are much more on plane you get a better ball flight.
