OK, birdie, here is some relevant background:
I started a thread a while ago, demonstrating a flip release lob shot Brian had helped me re-learn at the Long Island school. Although I had been taught this method before (by Carol Mann, Stan Utley, Jim Hardy and others), Brian spotted that I had developed too much forward shaft lean, probably as a result of trying to maintain a flat left wrist through impact. After working on releasing the right wrist with Brian and Mike Jacob's help, Brian filmed me hitting a nice lob with a slight bend in my left wrist at impact.
granato's contribution to that thread was to state that the method I was demonstrating was not the "tour standard" "flat left wrist method", as demonstrated by Phil Mickelson in a video he linked to, which I describe above. He then goes on to knock Utley and Hardy and tout David Pelz, even though both are ranked higher than Pelz by tour players and instructors. Pretty obnoxious behavior, but something I've come to expect from granato: he likes knocking others down.
granato then starts this thread, making reference to my earlier one, and somehow claims that what the videoed player is doing is a different method from my technique, even though we both are doing essentially the same thing, nothing like the tight lie, cut shot Mickelson demonstrates in the video he cited. Also pretty god-damned obnoxious. When I pointed out the obvious contradiction, granato starts his shuck and jive. If you skipped the extended back-and-forth, you didn't miss anything, because it was just granato saying stupid stuff to avoid admitting he was wrong from the very beginning. Of course, his "apology" that you thought was funny is just icing on the cake because he started this nonsense way back in my earlier thread. The guy is just an asshole.
