So far this week I made it to the range Mon and Tues but not today. Monday was a GREAT session, Tuesday was okay but nothing like Monday. Kind of got out of sync or something. Hit a lot of big divot shots.

I borrowed a buddies Orange Whip trainer (after reading some of the people's comments on this forum as well as my buddies comments, I thought I'd give it a try.) I noticed one thing when swinging it tonight. When I don't turn my hips through the ball I hit the ground, if I turn my hips and keep turning them I don't hit the ground... Interested I went and got a 5i and tried some practice swings. Wala, turn the hips barely brushed the carpet. Turn the shoulders and not the hips or if I stop the hips, the club cuts through the carpet at impact. HMMM, perhaps I need to go back and work on my hips again...

It's like freaking game of whack-a-mole... I work on the hips and I start to lay off the club, I fix the lay off and I stop turning my hips. I get both of those things going and I work on the club path and my hips stop turning... Geez, I'm going to go crazy here. At least the mole's are staying down longer AND I'm getting faster at whacking them...

So what did you think about it?

It's interesting. I've always tried to rip the club through transition from backswing to downswing. This thing lets you feel what it's like to do it smoothly. Interestingly enough I was trying to smooth out the transition and in doing so I noticed it was a LOT easier to get my hips turning and to drop the arms right down the path toward the ball. Maybe there is something there? :) I haven't touched a driver this week so I don't know how that's going to work out. All and all I like the Orange Whip if for nothing more than it somewhat forces/encourages me to swing smoother. Plus with that whippy shaft it gives you feedback during the swing as to what's going on.
