Following shaft plane

Hi all, I have CFF and NSA. I worked the drills and my pivot and hand action improved on swings that were shorter but on the full swing it was hit or miss. I palyed the other day and thought about a plane board and just swinging along whatever plane my shaft was at address. It felt flatter and more left in the followthrough but I had a really good finish postion with some leftover tilt and easy balance. Also, my left wrist stayed flat and I picked up a club in length and was hitting the driver very well. I think that means that I do much better on a hands plane. Does this make any sense? Walt

Shaft plane follow-up

Yes, I was hooking everything after NSA and Flipper then opened my hips more on the downswing and BAM I was hitting it further than ever even driving some short par 4 holes. Problem was it did not last long. The following shaft plane only worked for one round as well. I am still conflicted about the pivot after the videos or maybe just stupid. Brian says to make as flat a shoulder turn as possible which to me means level. If I do that my hips sway and my weight rolls to the outside of my right foot on the backswing. It also looks to me as though the shoulder turn needs to be steeper to get the look of lean in the videos. I mean if I want to throw the drunk off he has to climb on first. Anyway, I think if Brian saw my swing he could easily fix my problems. But, I am short and stocky with large arms, a large chest, and tight muscles from years of heavy weightlifting. So, I don't know that I could really improve from any video. I have taken lessons but I always get ten different answers. If anyone has read this far I do have a question. I was hitting driver at the range and it would launch well and look good then about 200 yards out it would nosedive to the ground. Why?

Soft Draw Video

Hi Brian, Yes I do have the soft draw video and I played it around it with for a couple of weeks. It is easy to perform and feels very natural to the way I swing. I got a lot more distance with the NSA pattern when I could do it right or at least what I thought was right. I could only get the look of lean with a steep shoulder turn and it felt like screwing my body into the ground. I have a really hard time pivoting without a big hip sway. I have a great basebal swing and no hip sway but when I bend over for some reason my hips just shoot right and the weight goes to the outside of my right foot, my left arm breaks down, my right wrist cocks up and my right arm stays close to my body and bends way past 90 degrees. None of that happens if I swing a bat standing up. I hope to someday figure out why. Walt
