"Fore Inventors Only" -- Gyroscope training aid

Did anybody see the gyroscope training aid on TGC's "Fore Inventor's Only"?

It's basically a gyroscope attached to the end of club shaft.
It caught my attention when he mentioned "the conservation of angular momentum". I'm new to TGM (just bought the book a week ago) but I wonder if this mimics the model Homer describes gives in chapter 2 principles.

The device as described by the inventor Larry Kelly, automatically taught the sensation of an on-plane swing (correct mechanics to produce the right feel). The teaching pro on the panel (don't remember his name) thought very highly of it. Judging by the positions of those using the device on the show, it looked like a great device to teach the correct geometry of the swing.

I began to think if he added the Pure Swing attachment to the butt end of the grip, you could have one heck of a swing trainer.

Here's an article on the topic:

Anybody else see it? Any thoughts?

I saw it and was intrigued by it. My only concern was his comment, "It has a mind of it's own!" He meant you could not swing off-plane with it. It would not allow it. I believe a good trainer reminds me of the bproper fundamentals. I think one that forces them may not ingrain them at all.

I have no idea if this thing works...but it was funny when Swenson Swanson (whatever her name is) asked Harmon if you wanted to stay on the same plane throughout the swing...he kind of studdered a little and then said it would help beginners...

This show is the only Golf Channel show I've ever watched consistently (Tivo'd it baby)...and I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more talk on this forum...

I didn't know this at the time but Matthew Chute and his universal golf alignment ball...whatever...is an AI...seemed like quite the interesting guy

Leek - the "mind of its own" comment did seem to imply that component variations in the backswing were inhibited.

However for a chip or pitch motion I imagine it might help people who do funny things to start the back swing.

I really enjoy this show too. I can't wait to see the field tests on some of the inventions they sent forward. Next couple of shows should show the field test results - lots of cool stuff
