Forward shaft lean at impact

Fellow forum members,

Here are a few of my swings for critical analysis! Do I need more forward lean at impact?

Looks pretty darn good to me.

Not sure if you know, but more shaft lean doesn't equate to better ballstriking and can lead to more inconsistent ballstriking because of D-Plane. You've got a flat left wrist at impact. So shaft lean ain't a problem.

Thanks...

Thanks! The reason I was inquiring about the forward shaft lean is that since I bought Martin Chuck's Tour Striker Pro it has really shown me that I do not strike the ball consistently well!

So I was thinking that it may be that I did not have enough forward lean of the shaft at impact. Will investigate other possibilities. By the way the TS Pro is an awesome club to get "you thinking" about swinging the club correctly.

I will post a video later of me swinging the TS Pro and then maybe you could tell me what you think. Maybe I am lifting my head a little at impact?

Yeah, I hit a high ball! So trees are usually not a problem unless I am directly behind them :)

If you go to play in Ireland, perhaps you make want to tinker around with more shaft lean.

Do you want to hit a lower ball? If so, you will need more shaft lean, but be careful not to artificially produce it with your hands. Just use your pivot more to help the butt of the club 'outrace' the clubhead to the ball. (Grip yells, "Last one in is a rotten egg" to the clubhead) Looks like a pretty good contact position to me as it is.- could use a little more 'belt buckle facing target' at impact.

You do lose the angle a little soon on the way down..perhaps leading with the right elbow + pivot a little bit more would allow you to conserve angle a little bit longer.

Bradley, don't feel bad if you don't flush it every time. My best is eight in a row off of tight turf. It doesn't take much (a little late, a little early) to catch the ball on the radius and hit it squirrly.

As far as your impact alignments go, you look great. There is an alignment for every shot and like 3Jack noted, you are hitting high bombs. To master your alignments and ball flight, practice different trajectories from the same ball position. When you get proficient, you'll be able to hit it low-ish, medium and high from the same ball position without a huge variation in distance.

Thanks Martin,

I will put your suggestions into practice tomorrow and try and hit different trajectories from the same ball positions. However, do you want me to try this with my normal clubs or the TS Pro?

Thanks

very good swing

Thanks for the comment Notorious B.E.N :)

and here for those of you that are just a bit masochistic like me with their golf swing...swinging the Tour Striker Pro off a lie board!!!

Trying this will either drive you nuts and make you hairless on top or have you playing on the tour pretty soon :D

Mix it up.

Use the training club and go back to your club. The training club can be a little deflating at times, so don't let it get in your head. You have an excellent swing, I'm just suggesting ways to learn how to be more creative with your feel and shotmaking.
