Freakin' Daly.....

it is up to him to seek help, which he seems to feel he doesn't need.

All I'm saying is....I used to root for the guy. I liked his anti-robotic, golf personality....his swashbuckling demeanor.

While I hope a light goes off and he does get help, I can't support him as a "fan" any longer. He's way overboard.

I saw his interview on the golf channel last night. He wished Butch would have called him vs. going public. I'm kind of glad B.H. went public instead. If there truly were good intentions in doing it, I doubt they are going to help though.

Gonna have to disagree with you Bill and side with big John. Butch going public and not straight to his CLIENT shows that he is a big "vagina". I don't disagree with Butch letting him go, I just think there was a better way to do it.

I agree man. Looks like he kinda hung him out to dry to me...

We don't know all the details and I think there's too much speculation happening with John Daly in general (in the media, etc.)............

......but this could even be a bit of a case of:

"No bad students.....just bad teachers."

I mean.....who really even knows what's going on here.....maybe this was heading toward failure and Butch was scared to fail.....maybe Butch thinks "getting tough on him" will do him some good.....or whatever.

Unless there's some info. I've missed it seems to me that everyone is filling in the blanks to make JD out to be the problem.

BTW Daly did chalk this up to a miscommunication. We can speculate all we want and talk about what we think really happened like we know better. I am gonna take him at his word and not condemn him.

JD said him and Butchie are like "brothers" and he really loves the guy. If that is true on both sides, maybe Butch was trying to help the JD in the best way he knew how.

his "CLIENT"? I would bet that Daly hasn't paid Harmon a penny. Harmon has talked about how he lets his tour players pay him whatever they feel necessary at the end of the season. Why should Harmon show Daly more "respect" than Daly showed him, once he started doing him favors?

Remember when Ely Callaway took JD under his wing and paid all his gambling debts? All Big John had to do was stay sober.JD screwed that up and I'm sure he and Butch had some kind of deal and Daly messed that up too.

thefuture..............I would bet.....that your post sounds a lot like speculation.

wedgeplay.........more speculation. And BTW it's called alcoholism.....

I mean.....sure he's gotta take a certain responsibility for himself..........but on the other side of it.....(there's always more than one side...imagine that)........

.....we gonna burn him at the cross???

I've never been to Hooters... Should I be proud or ashamed of that? I pass one everyday, but never have had the urge to visit. Do they have soy milk?

Of course its speculation. This whole thread is speculation. My comments are based on what Harmon has said about how he is paid by his tour players.

BTW, he may be an alcoholic, but if he is he is on the light side of alcoholism. Hardcore alcoholics spend their whole days and nights making sure they have alcohol to drink. Daly is just an example of someone who has no discipline in his life. When he gets to be a hardcore alcoholic, then its up to other people to help him get help, until then he needs to take responsibility for himself.

We don't have one where I'm at. We have peelers though. (food may not be as good however)

Ya don't drink soy milk at one of these places s-m. :D

(it would draw too much attention to my bold, trailblazing, dangerous, renegade attitude.....in turn making the ladies too riled up.....in turn requiring me to have to fight too many jealous boyfriends/husbands........the danger of which, however mild, would be an unneeded annoyance and a threat to my PGA Tour career and my career as a human empire)

...

future.....you may be right.....I have no idea though. I am just weary of conclusions based on speculation.....that's all. To me, who knows what exactly is going on with him.

Ok, here is what we know without speculating: Daly had the talent to win 2 majors when he was younger. He proceeded to get married and divorced multiple times while gaining a reputation as the hardest living player on tour. Fast forward to the present. He has gone from being mildly overweight to morbidly obese, hasn't had a tour card in two years, and can't hardly make a cut. You don't have to know exactly what is going on with him to realize that he needs help living his life. In light of him insulting Palmer with his latest antics, it'll really be interesting to see if he gets as many sponsors exemptions in the future.

Birdie the ladies love you because of your soy induced sensitivity... Man boobs are soo in fashion this season... totally fetch!

Self,

Neither proud nor ashamed - I think I've been once in the last 3 years. Hooters is very over-rated on all fronts. Perhaps the worst chicken wings in town, and it seems that they hire any and all comers now. The orange outfits they've worn since the chain opened up are about as "in-style" as white socks with those ugly sandal golf spikes.

Don't want you to think you're missing anything or that you have anything to be proud of (or ashamed of) for not having stepped inside one.

JD did not honor commitment

Remember when Ely Callaway took JD under his wing and paid all his gambling debts? All Big John had to do was stay sober.JD screwed that up and I'm sure he and Butch had some kind of deal and Daly messed that up too.

Golf Digest reported that Butch had a clear agreement with Daly that he would do certain things...i.e. practice, show-up, and modify his behavior. If Daly didn't do it the agreement was clear that Butch would drop him. Daly is in big trouble and heading for disaster...needs help with psychological problems not his swing.

Agreed, still doesn't give Butch the right to go public. JMO
