Brian only now in my later years have I realised the importance of ground forces and this was never taught or pointed out to me as a kid. When I watch Couples I refer to him as a top half swinger and my question is. Does Couples employ a lot of ground forces as he seems to just swing with the top half of his body

Thanks

Hogan, there is no way his hips can move like that in the transition and downswing by just swinging his upper body. Freddie has said himself he tries to clear his hips.

Don't ask me how I remember these things, but the gist of it was that if you ever saw Couples in shorts you would start to understand.
The guy is a total athlete from the ground up. Of course he is using his legs and the ground.

Thanks guys and yes I agree of course he as some ground forces but I probably did not really explain myself. I watched him at The Lakes last year at the Aus Open and I could see how much he cleared his hips and hit the ball as good as any of the other stars on the range. I was referring to the grinding into the ground of the feet, Freddy appears to me to almost tip toe across the ground rather than really dig in like a Peter Senior for example. Now having said all that I just love watching Freddy hit balls and I managed to get hold of one of Tigers balls and asked Freddy to sign it rather than Tiger and he obliged. Good on you Freddy.

Now that would be something!

I would have loved to see Freddie signing one of Tiger's balls.
