Getting Fitted at Cool Clubs - Need Help

I am getting fitted at Cool Clubs in Dallas next week and had some questions for you guys who have or know about being fitted. I am a 5 handicap and get several lessons a year with Brian so I am very familiar with Trackman. I opted to be fit outdoors with Trackman.

1. I guess I am worried I am going to get someone who doesn't fully understand trackman or just inexperienced. Have any of you guys ever been fit at the Haney center and on trackman?

2. I need to drastically lower the trajectory and spin on my irons quite a bit. I am currently hitting AP2's with a project x 6.5. I have a 93mph swing speed with my 6 iron which i hit 190-195. I live out on the coast where it is consistantly windy. Can anyone recommend any changes?

3. Should I go through the wedge fitting? I think they have you hit shots around the green and such. I don't believe I need to change any of this.

4. Is there anything I should be asking or looking for with the fitter to make sure I am being fit properly?

5. I have a hard time controlling my tempo and swing speed after several swings on the range. How do I control this to get fit correctly?

6. Brian and I are still working on certain components of my swing. I keep thinking I need to wait to get fit until my swing is solid and consistant. But then again I don't know if that will ever happen. I normally swing about 6 deg inside/out so we are always working on swinging more right. Once I accomplish that, how will it affect what I have been fitted with?

Thanks for you input guys. It is hard to drop alot of money to be fit and not know if you or your fitter will do something wrong that will affect the numbers or clubs being fit. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

It would not make sense for this very high-end company to staff it's newest location with inexperienced personel. If it was me and I was committing a handsome amount to being fitted, I would simply call them and verify their e experience level.

That makes sense, but then I am trusting a Haney employee answering the phone who makes $10/hr. All I was merely asking for is advice on getting fit and if anyone had been fit at this Cool Clubs in Dallas.

I'm very apprehensive about anybody setting up their shop at Haney's facility.

Sinclair Golf at Texas Star does their fittings outdoor on Trackman. I can't imagine going anywhere else.

You might want to call and make sure you speak to a fitting specialist to help address your concerns. Let them know how much trackman knowledge you have so that they are prepared when you come in. I'm guessing they would have a slightly different approach (more detailed trackman language) for someone with trackman knowledge. Ask them how much trackman data they use to assess what you need (as in how many swings per club they'll use, how many they throwout for assessment purposes, etc.).

Like softconsult said, I wouldn't expect a high-end fitting company that services professional golfers (PGA, etc.) to staff their location with inexperienced personnel.

That's a tough call regarding waiting until you have you swing dialed in to get fitted. I waited until I was hitting the ball fairly well to get fitted.

Are you saying you don't want to do the wedge fitting? Is that because you already hit your wedges well?

Make sure you leave out of there with a printout all of your trackman data. They give you a folder with all of the info. If you have them build your clubs find out what guarantees they will make if you end up not liking what you got or if something happens to them (scratches, nicks, etc). I can't remember exactly what those guarantees are, but I remember I liked what they told me.

Good luck!

I can say one thing for sure in concern for #2. I am a 0.3 handicap with an average driver swing speed of 116. I had a set of AP2's for about 16 hours (sold them on ebay in 2 hours). I have good low point control and shaft lean and can typically hit lower shots on demand. I played 9 holes with my AP2's with X100 shafts and could not flight them down at all. That club may look good, fly far and be solid feeling, but there is way to much weight in the bottom with that tungsten. Every person I know who plays AP2's cannot control the trajectory at all. Maybe cool clubs can help somehow, but I am betting not.JMHO

Does cool clubs have a build shop in Dallas or are they built in Arizona. I know Cool Clubs have satellite locations where the data is sent to Arizona and the fitters there then come up with the recommended set. I call the AZ location and see if you can speak to a fitter there and see if you can get any info about the fitter at Haney's location

Jwat, I have an appt set up on 6/25 and would very much appreciate your feedback after the session. Texasjosh also mentioned Sinclair golf to me as well, so I may switch if you don't have a good experience.

I definitley will. But I may call Sinclair and talk to them first before I go to Cool Clubs. Either way I will post on forum.

You will have a huge advantage going in there with Trackman knowledge. My guess is they will spend more time with you because of it. If you were some regular joe off the street without that TMan info, they might give you their layman's fitting. When they start throwing terms at you that you understand, it's easier to get things accomplished as far as getting you fitted for the right equipment. They know they have to get it right and be on top of their game so that you are satisfied.

Good luck!

I agree. Hopefully I will get to go see Brian for a lesson right before I get fitted. That way he can guide me with the correct way to be fit and what questions to be asking. And obviously fix my ugly-a$$ swing.
