The World Scientific Congress of Golf

Above is a link to DR Greg Rose presentation on "cracking the genetic code" which he presented at the World Scientific Golf Conference held earlier this year in Arizona.

Have a read and discuss.....

It will open your eyes on this muscle = power thing and explain the 6 factors that make a champion golfer

I enjoyed the video and it made me want to go to the gym..

I think the TPI stuff has a lot of merit. I like the idea of finding a pattern to suit the player rather than going off an "ideal" model. What the hell is a model anyway??

The thing that still drives me nuts is this: I don't give a damn how fit, strong, mentally tough, etc... someone gets, if they don't have a concept of the collision between a club and ball, they may live a few more years as a healthier person, but their golf won't be markedly better....

When someone understands impact, they swing how they need to swing. It's the chicken or the egg. When the collision is understood, I'm all for someone getting bigger and stronger to have a more robust collision. Until then, fitness won't help their game to any great degree. Their misaligned intentions may have more force and really hurt their body.

People have to understand impact. 90+% of golfers can't replicate good impact conditions on pitch shots. You don't have to be a Greek God to pitch the ball, but you had better understand collisions and impact. THEN, all the other stuff is AWESOME!

cmartingolf while i agree with a lot of what you said, in a lot of instances sometimes a limitation that a golfer has swing wise can be trained back to some kind of physical limitation. Fix the limitation in their physical body and then the golf goal you wanted them to do can happen.

However i will agree that it doesn't do miracles as really good basic/advanced instruction.

I hear ya, but I still think all these guys going to the gym to get better at golf is a huge waste of time (for their golf game).

If a guy is afraid of heights, fixing his rotator cuff or adding range of movement to his hips won't make him feel any better in a hot air balloon.

I hear ya. Fix the body = better opportunity to get things right in the golf swing.

My point is simple. All the TPI stuff is GREAT for someone that already "gets" it. The "getting it" part is what guys like you and BM are for...
