As a basketball coach, this makes me ill. Where is the coach of these thugs. Players not in shape and no discipline is a recipe for this type of behaviour.

Disgusting.

Connell seniors Cole Vanderbilt and Kennan VanHollebeke. Vanderbilt is 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds while VanHollebekeis is 6-4 and 235 pounds. Both were linemen on the school’s football team, and displayed an alarmingly aggressive football mindset throughout the team’s 38-37 win

I'm actually surprised some parents didn't take charge. If it was my kid who was on the receiving end of one of those fouls I would like to think I wouldn't let it continue.

Wow, so no retaliation on the other end of the court? we were taught to do what the other team was doing to us to make sure if the other team wants to play dirty we can too!

Well there are tons of people who are at fault.

The classless kids who decided they were going to play like this bear the most culpability.

The officials are a second for not taking control of an obvious situation.

The opposing coach for not taking those players out of the game.

The coach of the team being fouled, though we dont know what he was saying he clearly was not saying enough. I honestly would have thought about pulling my team off the floor.

At some point I think the coach needs to tell them that they need to do what they have to to protect themselves.

A complete embarrassment.

Man, when I went to Youtube there is a link to a CNN piece on this and one of the guys is actually trying to spin this is some kinds of weird way. Sad.

There is not much in about half of the fouls...most are just poorly executed defensive efforts by a less than talented basketballer. The reaction of players is a very good indicator of how 'flagrant' the fouls really are...For the most part there is little or no protest from the Highland High players...If the players from the offended team do not protest, why should those in cyberspace?

With the 'coathanger', the players from Highland High need to learn how to 'fly the flag' when one of their own gets hammered.

Really Kevin? And what would you have done? Embarrass your son? Get your ass kicked by the fat offensive lineman?

The reality is that the other team was being fouled hard and all they did was raise their hands and whine about it like a bunch of school girls with skinned knees. If I were a father watching that game I would have been upset, but just as upset for my son not taking action himself. I'm not excusing the "hack" style of play, believe me, I think there's no place for it, but stick up for yourself and your teammates.

I'm surprised by this response. Sorry that I would've tried to do something.

The second last tackle could have killed that boy, no joking. If he had landed on his neck, he could have been crippled.

I know nothing about basketball, but in the UK if that had happened in a soccer game the big guys of the team on the receiving end would have taken the fat boy (34) out of the game. They would have told him if he continued "he'd been taken out" and would've followed it up so that the ref would have had to intervene or call the match off.

The team on the receiving end should have reacted IMO. Then the coach. If the coach hadn't reacted, I (parent) would have had a word with the coach. And if he still didn't react I'd have invaded the pitch and got my ass kicked. Rather that than live to regret it.

I agree wulsy. But did you see the size of the kids on the other team? They were obviously outsized by a lot. This situation needed some adults to stop the game or the coach to pull his players.

Getting these no talent football players ejected is one of the easiest things to do in a game. Thier "buttons" are pretty easy to push. Set the refs up, set the player up, then push the button.
